The material I used was FLEX 13. They thought it would be too light, but so far it's been great for the mini.

I was very happy with the shape etc. I think Ullman is an amazing designer, and it shows, but I am just going through the motions right now so I can go sailing. My sister pretty much dominates my mind right now, so the work is just happening on autopilot, because I am obligated to carry on.

How are you doing? I don't even know if people get these responses.

I think it has something to do with the halyard tension on the sail trying to crush the tube under compression. Reduce the halyard tension at the mast base, and you reduce compression. Reducing it totally can be done with a lock. You still get compression on the tube, but not from the halyard, which is a large part of overall compression.

Hey, thanks. Tripple spreader rigs used to be the norm for protos when the rule only allowed aluminum masts. Now that Carbon is allowed tripple spreaders are pretty rare.

I heard about this from the multihull guys. Should work especially well in my case because I have an adjustable forestay, but if it doesn't work well enough, I'll write about it. I'm going to use 9mm twelve strand. Good luck.

Hey Will. Yeah, it should stay up. Any failure that I can see will be user error and nothing more. Just means I need to be slightly more on my game than before but not much. I'm using both cotton and glass G-10 tubes. I'm using cotten ones in the gooseneck and spreader hinges to isolate the stainless and also because of the better impact resistence. Have I ever told you hom much I love G-10?

As for the Traveler, It seems pretty rigid and doesn't deflect much when under load (used my foot to push the car down). Should be even better with the mainsail up. I can't really attach another block to the cockpit wall though, because it will kill the whole concept of being able to drop the whole package to leeward super easily. If you ever sail on a mini, you will probably experience this frustrations. I'm not married to this now though, and if it doesn't work well, there are plenty of other options.

Thanks for checking all of this out.

How's the Olson coming?
